Some of tech's most notable cowboys are wrangling up their teams and decamping to Texas, where the cost of living is lower and the tax rates are certainly more favorable to billionaires than they are in California. When Hewlett Packard announced its move from San Jose to Houston in December, it caused major waves and had fellow companies eyeing the city's potential. With a new "Innovation Corridor," a four-mile complex designed for incubators, accelerators, and start-ups, already in the works, Houston is slated to draw plenty of new talent.
